According to Cayman News Service, the islands welcomed 288,694 stayover visitors between January and June 2026, representing an 11.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

What makes the latest first-half figures particularly interesting is that January did not prove to be an isolated record. The momentum continued into February, March, April, May and June.

February Continued Cayman’s Strong Start

February welcomed 49,075 stayover visitors, representing a 10.1% increase compared with February 2025 and making it the second-strongest February on record.

Caribbean Journal highlighted Cayman’s particularly fast start to 2026, reporting that January and February together produced 95,112 stayover arrivals, 11.8% more than during the same period in 2025.

The figures demonstrated that the record January performance had carried directly into the following month, creating a strong foundation for the remainder of the winter season.

Canada Emerges As A Major Growth Market

One of the most notable stories within Cayman’s 2026 tourism performance has been the rapid growth of the Canadian market.

According to Travel Market Report, 6,102 Canadian visitors travelled to the Cayman Islands in February 2026, representing 47% year-on-year growth and setting a new monthly record for arrivals from Canada at the time.

The growth continued beyond February. By the end of June, Canada represented 9.2% of year-to-date stayover visitation, strengthening its position as one of Cayman’s most important international growth markets.

Expanded air connectivity has helped support this growth, giving Canadian visitors more opportunities to travel directly to the Cayman Islands.

March Became Cayman’s Best Tourism Month Ever

If January and February demonstrated the strength of the tourism market, March took the figures to another level.

The Cayman Islands welcomed 64,213 stay over visitors during March 2026, making it the strongest month for stay over visitation in the destination’s recorded history and the first time monthly stay over arrivals had surpassed 60,000.

The milestone was confirmed by the Cayman Islands Government and widely reported locally. The Cayman Compass described March as a new tourist air-arrival record, with the first quarter as a whole reaching 160,335 stay over visitors.

The United States remained the dominant source market, while Canada continued its rapid growth. March alone welcomed 6,711 Canadian visitors, exceeding the record that had been established just one month earlier.

April Broke Another Tourism Record

After March became Cayman’s strongest tourism month ever, April demonstrated that visitor demand remained strong.

The Cayman Islands welcomed 47,884 stay over visitors during April 2026, making it the strongest April on record.

As reported by Caribbean National Weekly, April’s performance was 12% higher than the same month in 2025 and exceeded the previous April record established in 2019.

The succession of strong monthly results is important because it demonstrates that Cayman’s first-half performance was not created by one temporary spike in demand. Record or near-record visitation was being repeated across multiple months.

The Momentum Continued Into May And June

Tourism growth continued as Cayman moved beyond the traditional winter season.

Tourism Analytics reported that May 2026 stay over arrivals were 16.5% higher than in May 2025, extending the run of positive year-on-year performance.

June then welcomed 40,460 stayover visitors, representing a 6.9% increase compared with June 2025.

That result extended Cayman’s sequence of year-on-year stay over growth to eight consecutive months and completed a record first half of the year.

Visitors Are Arriving From A Wider Range Of Markets

The United States remains the Cayman Islands’ largest source market, but the 2026 figures also demonstrate increasing demand from other parts of the world.

Canada has been one of the standout markets, while European visitor numbers have also performed strongly.

During June, arrivals from the UK and Ireland increased by 4.1% compared with the previous year, while Continental European arrivals increased by 73.9%, led by markets including France, Germany and Spain.

This fits naturally with many of Cayman’s established attractions: high-quality accommodation, beaches, diving, watersports, restaurants and family activities, combined with a choice of environments ranging from Seven Mile Beach and George Town to quieter areas such as East End, Rum Point, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Expanded Flights Are Supporting Tourism Growth

Increasing visitor numbers are being supported by greater air connectivity between the Cayman Islands and key international markets.

Expanded services and additional capacity from major gateways have given visitors more opportunities to reach Grand Cayman, while British Airways continues to provide a connection from London via Nassau.

During the first half of the year, additional capacity included services involving cities such as Miami, Toronto, Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta, alongside new connections involving Ottawa, Fort Lauderdale and Austin.

Cayman Airways launched its Austin service in June, further expanding connections between Grand Cayman and the United States.

For visitors and existing landowners, improved connectivity also has a practical benefit: more travel options can make it easier to visit Cayman personally and experience different areas of the islands.

Cruise Arrivals Are Growing Too

Stay over tourism was not the only visitor category to record growth during the first half of 2026.

Cayman News Service reported that 55,639 cruise passengers arrived in June, representing a 15.5% increase compared with June 2025.

Between January and June, Grand Cayman welcomed 681,391 cruise passengers, approximately 6.8% more than during the equivalent period in 2025.

Combined with the record stay over performance, this means Cayman experienced growth across both major visitor categories during the first half of the year.

Cayman Hotels Are Benefiting From Increased Demand

The increase in stay over visitors has also been reflected in accommodation performance.

According to hotel performance figures cited by Cayman News Service, occupancy reached 61% in June 2026, 5.3 percentage points higher than in June 2025.

Average Daily Rate increased by 6.7%, while year-to-date hotel occupancy through June reached 73.3%.

Hotel revenue across the first half of 2026 increased by 17.3% compared with the corresponding period in 2025.
